Frank Graves and Sons Warehouse Operative
DATES: Summer 2005
EMPLOYER: Jamie Arnold
POSITION IN DEPARTMENT: My position in the department was as a food production assistant. It involved me working in a team of production staff, to produce the quota stated of processed foods to be redistributed to neighbouring companies or supermarkets for resale. I had to show both time management skills and an enthusiatic nature to my work in order to fulfil the orders per week.
DATES: Summer 2003 and every Friday of Year 1 university course
EMPLOYER: Mark Graves
POSITION IN DEPARTMENT: My position in the department was as a warehouse operative. I was responsible for organising the delivery lorries, both in the loading context and the run they were assigned to. I had toshow good communication skills in dealing with the customers in order to organise a delivery time, meaning I had to be flexible and polite. My organisation skills were improved greatly as I gained more responsibility. I was a very reliable employee and was always most enthusiastic and ambitious on improvements that could be made.
Barge and Bottle Public House:
DATES: May 2002 to present
EMPLOYER: Mick Wells
POSITION IN DEPARTMENT: Barman- in this area of work I had to have patience, be polite, good communication and the ability to deal with problems when they arose. I had to be a quick thinker, because often the unexpected happened. I had to be multi-skilled as I worked in the restaurant at times. This job gave me many of the vital skills I have today. I learnt how to work in a team, helping out your team whenever possible, giving them your respect and building good team cohesion.
May/June 2002 - Winchelsea Primary School, Ruskington
Football Coach - This helped me to become more of a coach and develop coaching and leadership skills. I had to be patient and supportive to the pupils. I really enjoyed this time as it gave me practical experience and allowed me to pass on the knowledge I have gained as people did to me when I was younger.
June 2000 - Carres Grammar School, Sleaford
Sponsored Charity Run - I wanted to do something to raise money for the Cancer Research fund so when in year 10 at school I organised a sponsored run for everyone in our year. Everyone was very cooperative and we raised over £500 as a result. From this I gained organisation skills and the ability to motivate people to do things for a good cause.
